Community Rising Lower North Fork Fire Families Benefit
“The Evergreen Elks Lodge has graciously offered to partner with Mountain Resource Center and host a Lower North Fork Fire Fundraiser.
…
Twenty-five families remain displaced by the fire. Legal actions to pursue compensation is still unsettled. While legislation was passed to assist the families, its effect is to give them the ability to take legal action against the state, with no guarantee of compensation. More than 20 homes need to be rebuilt. Insurance claims remain unsettled and several families were underinsured. Property values have plummeted. Families are just now starting to realize the impacts of their loss and reaching out for counseling services.”
